Football crazy Louis was offered the part of a goalkeeper in a documentary film, based on Reading Football Club in the late 1960’s.Louis was in serious talks to play a wild goalkeeper, who along with a group of other players in the squad, were renowned for being hellraisers off the pitch.

Louis, 22, had several meetings with scriptwriters in Los Angeles while he was there earlier this year, and they were hopeful that he would sign to deal that would kick off his acting career.

However, sources close to the 1D heart-throb said that after a lot of thought, he turned it down because the filming clashed with the US leg of their current tour and he wasn’t ready to quit the band like his former bandmate Zayn Malik.

One said: “There were several meetings and it was something that Louis really, really wanted to do. He loves football, so the chance to play a footballer was a huge temptation in itself, but he also loved the script and very much saw it as the beginning of an acting career, which is something that he is considering when 1D do finally go their separate ways.

“But it was just a case of bad timing as the filming was scheduled for exactly the same time as One Direction’s American tour dates so he declined the offer and chose to stay with the band. He had absolutely no intention of leaving, and he still doesn’t.”

The couple’s daughters, Sasha and Malia, are fans of the group and went to see them in concert when the boys played Virginia in 2012.

One Direction gave some seriously ill children the best Christmas ever when they attended a special charity event on Tuesday.

The band, who are ambassadors for the children’s charity Rays of Sunshine, granted the wishes of 36 children and teens across the UK who desperately wanted to meet the boys.
Amongst the children were Effy, five, who is currently awaiting a heart transplant, and Harriet, 15, who arrived by ambulance to greet Harry, Niall, Zayn, Liam and Louis.

Given the chance to ask their idols questions, one fan asked: “Will you marry my sister, Niall?” Too cute, although it seems Niall didn’t do an Ed Sheeran and accept the proposal.

The children also asked the boys who they thought the best singer in the band was, and who would win the X Factor.

And if all that wasn’t adorable enough, 1D treated teenager Ellie-Leigh, who is currently living with heart disease, to an exclusive rendition of Happy Birthday, ahead of her 16th birthday celebrations this weekend.

All the fans left with the ultimate One Direction goody bag which included a signed T-shirt and two tickets to their 2015 tour.

One Direction have split with the long-standing tour manager they called Daddy – after he allegedly fell out with singer Zayn Malik.

Paul Higgins, who had worked with the band since shortly after they formed in 2010, was one of their closest confidants and a major part of their touring operation.
But it was claimed he clashed with Zayn and last week flew back from the US, where the band are promoting their new album, Four.

The cause of the alleged row remained unclear last night, but was believed to have begun after the band joined superstars including Bono and Chris Martin to record their part on the Band Aid 30 single last weekend.

Bandmates Harry Styles, 20, Niall Horan, 21, Louis Tomlinson, 22, and Liam Payne, 21 then flew to the US – though Zayn did not join them.

Paul revealed on Wednesday he had flown home, and Zayn jetted out to join the lads on Thursday.

When he failed to join the band’s performance on NBC’s Today show in Orlando, Florida, the lads said he had a “stomach bug”. They were left furious when the show’s host Matt Lauer raised suggestions “substance abuse” could be involved. However, Zayn later insisted: “I was really ill.”

The source described Paul as “solid as a rock” and “totally ­dependable”, adding: “In many ways he has completely run the show while they’ve been on tour – they even call him Daddy. He became a friend as well as a key part of their management set-up.

One Direction star Zayn Malik has blasted drug abuse claims that were made about him live on US TV.

Zayn, who was too ill to fly out to the US for the band’s Today Show appearance, said he was angry and upset after host Matt Lauer asked his four bandmates: “There have been rumours of substance abuse, what’s going on?”

The band excused Zayn’s absence, saying it was due to illness, but the singer was shocked by the claims.

Speaking to The Sun, the 1D star said: “I’m really angry and upset by what was said. I was really ill at the weekend, that’s why I couldn’t fly to America.”

Zayn was left reeling after Matt Lauer kick started his interview with the rest of the band by asking: “Let’s start with the obvious. Where’s Zayn?”

Liam Payne responded that Malik had a “tummy bug so he’s not very well,” adding, “We only found out this morning so we’re really sad, he is as well, that he can’t be here for our album release.”

The pushy presenter wasn’t satisfied and asked again: “Liam, there’s obviously a lot of concern, a lot of fans have been tweeting overnight, there’s been a lot of action on social media about him. Is it something more serious than just a minor illness? There have been rumors of substance abuse. What’s going on?”

A shocked Liam replied: “No, he’s just got a stomach bug. He’s okay. He’s just at home. He just needs to rest. He’s okay.”

His rep told Mirror Online: “Zayn was taken ill after recording the Band Aid single at the weekend and was unfortunately not well enough to fly to the USA yesterday. He will join the band for promotion for the new album as soon as he possibly can.”

The Today Show then appeared to add to that, by writing on Twitter: “Where’s Zayn? @OneDirection says he has a “tummy bug.” #1DTODAY.”

Liam confirmed Zayn was suffering from a bug, when speaking to hosts Matt Lauer and Al Roker.
